How to Turn an HTML File into a Live Website for Free (No Coding)
Maybe an AI tool gave you an HTML file, you downloaded a template, or a developer sent you index.html. Opening it on your computer shows the website, but nobody else can see it. To make it a real website you need hosting (a server that shows it to the world) and an address. Here's the easiest free way.
Step 1: Open the file as text
- Windows: right-click the file → Open with → Notepad.
- Mac: right-click → Open With → TextEdit.
- Phone: open it in any text or code viewer app, or simply ask your AI tool to show the code in the chat.
Select everything (Ctrl+A or Cmd+A) and copy it.
Step 2: Paste it into Vertlio
Go to vertlio.com and tap Paste & build my website. You'll see your site immediately.
Step 3: Publish
Click Publish and your website is live on a free yourname.vertlio.com address, with secure https and fast hosting around the world.
Good to know
- One file works best. If your website uses separate CSS or JavaScript files, ask an AI tool to "combine this into one HTML file", then paste that.
- Images must be online links (starting with https://). Photos stored only on your computer won't show, but after publishing you can click any image in Vertlio and upload your own.
- Forms work: Vertlio catches messages from your contact form so you don't miss customers.
Why not free hosts like GitHub Pages?
They work, but you need an account, git or file uploads, and every text change means editing code again. With Vertlio you paste once, then edit by clicking, change sections with AI, and add WhatsApp and your own domain from simple settings.
